Jenny: Personnel file - season four
- Tony thinks he needs Gibbs’ help to get Ziva out of trouble. Jenny kind of suggests that he doesn’t. I definitely don’t think he does, but I’m just some fan writing this three years after the fact, so don’t bother listening to my opinion. (4.1)
- Although still retired, Gibbs asks Jenny for a temporary reinstatement to help track down the petty officer who escaped from jail and vaguely threatened Fornell’s young daughter. Jenny’s worried that he wouldn’t be able to pass his psych evaluation. (4.2)
- Jenny didn’t file Gibbs’ retirement package, presumably because she was fairly certain that he would actually come back. She says she filed his unused leave time instead to cover the time he’s been away. She says he has six days left on it. (4.2)
- Jenny’s been sent flowers, but we don’t know who sent them. (4.3)
- Jenny asks Tony to rate his recent performance as team leader. He says it was a solid B. She gives him a look, and he adds “Minus. I’m being fired, aren’t I?” He tells Jenny he has no problem working for Gibbs. Jenny gives him order to head up his own team in Rota, Spain. She says his performance over the last four months was exemplary. Tony’s not jumping up and down, though. He references La Grenouille and says it “took months getting in”. Jenny can’t believe he’s passing on a promotion every other agent in the building would kill for because he’s worried about “some long-shot mission”. Tony admits that he’s worried about “Jethro” and wants to make sure he’s 100 per cent well before Tony leaves. Jenny gives him 72 hours to decide whether he’s going to take the job. She adds that if he passes it up, another opportunity might not come up for him for years. (4.3)
- Tony makes reference to the Grenouille mission being something only he and Jenny know about. (4.3)
- Jenny tells Gibbs he should be proud of Tony. “When you left, there were some rocky moments. He really held the team together.” Gibbs says that’s what he trained Tony to do. Jenny says she thinks Gibbs should know that Tony excelled at it. “Then give him his own team, Jen,” Gibbs says. Jenny asks if Gibbs thinks Tony’s ready. Gibbs replies, “I wouldn’t have quit if he wasn’t.” Jenny says that Gibbs should tell him that, But Gibbs says, “Trust me. When DiNozzo thinks he’s ready for his own team, you’ll know about it. Hell, the whole world will know about it.” One of two things going on here: 1) Gibbs doesn’t know Tony as well as he thinks he does, or 2) Tony doesn’t actually think he’s ready for his own team. My vote goes to number one. (4.3)
- Tony eventually declines Jenny’s offer for his own team, and she seems to have been expecting it. She tells him she not disappointed as he thought she would be. Instead, she says she’s feeling a little proud. (4.3)
- Jenny’s typing an email to Kofi Annan. Oh, I am so sure. (4.5)
- Gibbs is puzzled by the case, so he goes to Jenny to talk it over. (4.5)
- Tony and Ziva are on protection detail for Jenny while she attends a ceremony for the retiring Secretary of Defence. (4.8)
- Ziva crash tackles Jenny out of harm’s way before a body can fall on her from a balcony. (4.8)
- Ziva tells Gibbs that Tony wasn’t feeling well, and Jenny told him he could go home. (4.9)
- Abby has a little argument with ‘herself’ about Jenny sending Tony home for being sick. She plays the roles of both Gibbs and Jenny like they’re Barbie dolls. She ends it by looking at Gibbs and Jenny and saying, “The kids don’t like it when Mommy and Daddy fight.” (4.9)
- When Tony goes to Jenny for advice on women, she looks absolutely delighted that he came to her instead of Gibbs. (4.9)
- Jenny’s totally furious with McGee for not bringing Sarah in earlier. McGee puts his gun and badge on the table and walks. (4.9)
- Gibbs asks Ziva how long Tony has been doing errands for Jenny. She tells him it’s been happening since Gibbs retired. “She trusts him.” Gibbs asks what he does for her, but Ziva says he’ll have to ask Tony. It’s clear she’s totally in the dark. (4.10)
- Ziva again tells Gibbs that she thinks Tony is receiving outpatient treatment for a serious medical condition. Gibbs sees another explanation, but he doesn’t tell Ziva what it is. Gibbs is catching on that he’s doing some secret job for Jenny. (4.12)
- When Tony sees Kort’s photo, he recognizes him from the airstrip in the episode Smoked and from the restaurant Tony was busking outside in Driven. He tells Gibbs he’s never seen him before, though. Gibbs totally knows he’s lying, and is beginning to understand what Jenny’s got Tony involved in. (4.14)
- Tony walks in to Jenny’s office without knocking, and therefore sees her with her top almost off as Cynthia tries to help Jenny fix her bra strap. (4.14)
- Tony goes to tell Jenny about Kort being part of their current investigation. He tells her he had to lie to Gibbs about knowing who he was. Jenny tells Tony to leave Gibbs to her. This is going to end badly. [Oh. Spoiler alert, I guess.] (4.14)
- Gibbs walks in on Jenny and Tony talking about La Grenouille and Tony’s undercover mission. As Gibbs and Jenny fight Tony slowly slinks out of the room. (4.14)
- Jenny calls Gibbs’ retirement his “margarita safari”. (4.14)
- Gibbs tells Jenny she hasn’t been straight with him since he retired. Jenny tells him that a new operation was put in motion when he was gone, one of which sent Tony undercover. Gibbs says he won’t stand for having a part-time senior field agent. Jenny says that Gibbs taught her that the best way to keep a secret is to keep it to yourself. The second best way to keep it is to tell one other person if you must. There is no third best. Gibbs argues that rule number one supersedes all other rules. Jenny recites, “Never screw your partner?” Gibbs corrects that it’s “Never screw over your partner.” Jenny insists that she never screwed him over. And points out that she’s not his partner, but his boss. (4.14)
- Jenny tells Gibbs that she’s been trying for a decade to bring La Grenouille down. She gets kind of intense and Gibbs doesn’t have to leap too far to assume that her search is personal. He asks what La Grenouille did to her, and Jenny replies, “You have no need to know, Special Agent Gibbs.” Gibbs gets up and leaves her to her crazy. (4.14)
-
Gibbs accuses Jenny of needing someone to hate. Jenny
says she doesn’t, but Gibbs points out that if that were true, she would have
let Ziva shoot La Grenouille when she had the chance. Instead, Jenny told her
to stand down. (4.14)
-
Jenny vaguely offers a job to Hollis Mann. (4.17)
- McGee tries to explain something to Ziva and Jenny by relating it to quantum physics. Shocker: they don’t understand what he’s talking about. (4.19)
- Upon hearing that a lead to La Grenouille has been destroyed by fire, Jenny looks distraught. Abby walks over to her, arms outstretched for a hug, but she cowers and scampers away when Jenny starts yelling angrily. (4.21)
- Abby finds a pair of Jenny’s pink, frilly knickers in Jenny’s glove compartment when she does a forensic investigation of her car. She tries to hand them off to Tony to give back to Jenny. Because that is the best idea ever. (4.21)
- Gibbs warns Jenny that her obsession with bringing in La Grenouille and the mistakes she’s making as a result are going to end up with her losing her job soon. Jenny says it’s good to know that Gibbs is watching her back, but it sounds like she’s threatening him. (4.21)
- Jenny has a maid for her enormous house that she’s apparently lived in since she was a child. (4.24)
- Gibbs says that Jenny’s right eye always twitches when she lies. (4.24)
