We get a flashback to Gibbs’ time in the jungles of Colombia 18 years ago, which was 1991. He was doing drug work down there until a drug cartel came after him and shot him, but not before he killed the head of the cartel, a man named Castiel. Gibbs almost died from his injuries.
Family ties
There’s a sub-plot going on concerning Gibbs possibly being the father on a man named Tomas, born to a Colombian woman named Rose in 1991. But he’s not, so…whatever.
A toast to the future!
Franks translates Spanish for Gibbs, which is consistent with Gibbs needing Tony to translate Spanish for him in the past.
