Judgment Day - Part 1 (5.18)

Coffee count: 1
Caf-Pow! count: 2
Kill count: 4 to Jenny.

Professor DiNozzo’s film class
  • Tony wants to take Ziva for a cruise down Sunset Boulevard like in Against All Odds.
  • Ziva references Chinatown when she is trying to get Tony to do something for her, and sweetens the deal by saying she’ll let him do his Jack Nicholson impersonation.

You gave me a pet name
  • Ducky calls McGee “probie”.
  • Tony calls McGee “McOz”.

Idioms!
Ziva accuses Tony of “Googling” a girl he’s staring at. He says she means “ogling”.

Love in the Navy

  • Lust in the Navy: Tony takes a few photos of Ziva in her bikini, including a close-up of her hip and butt area.
  • Jenny tells Franks that she was the one who broke up with Gibbs because he didn’t fit into her future plans. She suggests that she still loves him and regrets the choice she made. Franks basically says that when Gibbs ‘retired’ at the end of season four and went down to Mexico he spent the whole time crying about Jenny and how much he loves her (I’m paraphrasing). He says they’re both still young and time is on their side to make amends. But Jenny knows that’s not true.

That’s not my name
We get flashbacks to Gibbs and Jenny undercover in Paris. She’s in a black wig.

Vice squad
  • Franks has a decanter of…something in his hotel room. Whisky, perhaps?
  • Jenny picks the lock on a house.
  • Gibbs drinks in his basement.

Sail the seven seas
Jenny is in Los Angeles for a funeral, and Tony and Ziva are her protection detail.

You look so fine (or maybe not)
  • This episode contains the infamous Ziva in a bikini scene. It’s blue and tiny and she looks slammin’.
  • Tony wears a baggy Hawaiian shirt and baggy white pants, and it’s every bit as ugly as Ziva’s bikini is hot.
  • Ziva wears a bright green t-shirt that looks really great against her skin tone.

Is there a doctor in the house?
  • Franks calls Jenny out on being sick. He went through her purse and found her pills. Jenny says Gibbs doesn’t know about it (except he sort of does). No specifics about the illness are given.
  • Jenny is shot and killed in a diner in the Mojave Desert.

A toast to the future!
Jenny prepares herself for a big gunfight by cleaning her gun methodically. Ziva did the same thing in season three’s Under Covers.

Wait, what?
Tony answers his cell phone while he’s pumping gas. I don’t know what the laws are in California, but in my neck of the woods that’s a big fat NO-NO!

Personnel file
  • McGee arrives at work while Tony and Ziva are away to find Abby sitting in Ziva’s chair and Ducky at Tony’s desk. Abby teases McGee like Ziva would, then Ducky makes fun of him like Tony would, and then Ducky and Abby smile at each other like Tony and Ziva do and dude, it’s kind of creepy but also awesome. Ducky puts his feet up on Tony’s desk as Abby plays with a knife, and then Jimmy power walks into frame holding a coffee and cutting off McGee’s sentences like Gibbs does. Ducky even starts to make a joke about Gibbs and then stops himself with “…He’s behind me, isn’t he?”
  • McGee brings Gibbs the FBI file on the death of La Grenouille. Gibbs talks to Ducky a bit about his autopsy later, with the implication being that Gibbs is digging into the death and probably suspects Jenny as the culprit. Later still, Gibbs matches up the bullet that killed La Grenouille with bullets Jenny had access to, and it basically confirms she shot him.
  • Abby has put Tony and Ziva’s faces on brooms while they’re out of town to keep her company. McGee draws a moustache on Cardboard Tony (as Abby starts calling him).
  • Abby makes McGee pinky swear that he’ll keep the secret work she’s doing for Jenny a secret.
  • Tony rents a red convertible for him and Ziva in LA. I think it’s a Mustang.
  • Tony and Ziva argue about their protection detail assignment for Jenny after Jenny cuts them loose. Ziva wants to hang around nearby and keep checking in on her. Tony keeps saying that Jenny gave them the day off and that they should enjoy it, but he is clearly as worried about Jenny as Ziva is. He finally explains that he’s leant that it’s best to keep your distance when Jenny’s fighting one of her private wars. Amen, brother. They finally go after her after they learn that she’s 50 miles out of LA in the Mojave Desert.
  • McGee is reading GSM Magazine at Tony’s desk while Tony’s in LA.
  • Tony and Ziva arrive at Jenny’s Diner of Death minutes after the gunfight and find Jenny and a bunch of goons dead. Franks is no longer there (not that they knew he should be). Tony confirms she’s dead, and then her cell phone starts ringing. It’s Gibbs. Aww, too late, Gibbs!
